Become a coach

All Barbell Club programs require the Head Coach to complete Raise the Bar Initiative’s Coaching Certification Course.

Course Overview:

  • In-person seminar that uses the curriculum developed by Raise the Bar Initiative (RBI), focused on teaching coaches how to create a welcoming, safe environment where girls can develop mental, emotional and physical strength.

  • Coaches are identified extensions of Raise the Bar Initiative and are expected to act as representatives of the organization.

  • Coaches are mentors and leaders inside and out of the weight room, and are responsible for coaching proper form/technique, engaging with athletes, and creating a safe space for young girls to share their vulnerabilities.

  • Certification is good for two years.

  • Certification is open to any interested coaches, trainers or someone who wants to improve their knowledge in barbell training (one year of experience in barbell movements is recommended).

    • RBI volunteers will have priority access to coaching sessions.

    • Certification is required for all head coaches.

    • Certification pricing will vary based on commitment to the organization.
